we have a 2-hour sample from the set at the al khaima restaurant for the gnaoua festival, essaouira 2007.

there’s tracks from both dj ohm and kiterae – definitely more angled towards upfront techno/house. it was good fun playing this gig – hopefully this is clear in the recordings.

so, it finally went off. after spending a morning figuring out how to get x2 dj set ups (vinyl + cd decks) into the heart of the medina, we finally got to play. a full 7 hours in the end. it took about that long to get the crowd going (maybe something to do with all the tagines and couscous) and 10 minutes after dj ohm tore the roof off it was all over. the 3am set turned into a non-event but all in all a great experience to play under african skies.

ok, can’t deny that i’m not a bit excited to be jetting off to morocco today for the gnaoua (?) music fest. not least because i’m meant to be djing in a bar there on saturday night. if all goes according to plan, a recording will follow…
