During my first couple of months in Krakow, I found myself living in a small apartment without a washing machine, prompting regular visits to the local laundrette.

Luckily for me, Frania Cafe and laundrette proved to be something out of the ordinary: a combined cafe, bar, art gallery with local artists and free wifi-spot. Plus a constant supply of good music. Like Sóley’s Theatre Island, for example.

Sóley is a pianist and singer from Iceland who used to be in Seabear, if I’ve understood things right. Theatre Island is from 2010 but she also released the album We sink in 2011 which is also very good.

Listen to Theatre Island and The sun is going down II on YouTube.

Favourite Jamie: Lidell. Is this guy getting the recognition he deserves or have I just not been paying attention (more likely)?

Favourite track: Burial’s version of Wayfaring stranger is strangely addictive.

Favourite album: James Blake. Funnily enough I don’t listen to it that much. It’s almost like a painting in a museum; I admire it but that doesn’t mean I always enjoy it. I bet it sounds amazing live though.

Tracks:

Street – Jamie Woon

Your sweet boom – Jamie Lidell

Far nearer – Jamie XX

Air and lack thereof – James Blake

Night air (Ramadanman refix) – Jamie Woon

NY is killing me – Jamie XX and Gil Scott-Heron

Multiply (Herbert’s Hoedown Bump) – Jamie Lidell

Multiply (Hot Chip mix) – Jamie Lidell

The City (Four Tet mix) – Jamie Lidell

Favourite Jamie: Lidell. Is this guy getting the recognition he deserves or have I just not been paying attention (more likely)?

Favourite track: Burial's version of Wayfaring stranger is strangely addictive.

Favourite album: James Blake. Funnily enough I don't listen to it that much. It's almost like a painting in a museum; I admire it but that doesn't mean I always enjoy it. I bet it sounds amazing live though.

Tracks:

	Street - Jamie Woon
Your sweet boom - Jamie Lidell
	Far nearer - Jamie XX
Air and lack thereof - James Blake
Night air (Ramadanman refix) - Jamie Woon
NY is killing me - Jamie XX and Gil Scott-Heron
Multiply (Herbert's Hoedown Bump) - Jamie Lidell
Multiply (Hot Chip mix) - Jamie Lidell
The City (Four Tet mix) - Jamie Lidell
Wayfaring stranger (Burial remix) - Jamie Woon
The Wilhelm scream - James Blake
	Compass - Jamie Lidell
She needs me - Jamie Lidell

I have seen a fair bit of the Swedish crime series Wallander on BBC iPlayer recently and have to say I’m growing increasingly fond of the series (this is the Swedish version, with Krister Henrikson as Wallander). This surprised me as I’ve never regarded Wallander or his creator Henning Mankell particularly highly before. I reckon the gorgeous soundtrack by the Fleshquartet has got something to do with it.

Listen to the beautiful song Quiet Night, sung by Anna Ternheim.

The full score is available on Spotify at Fleshquartet – Wallander – The Music (American amigos: in case you didn’t know, Spotify is now available in the US – let me know if you need an invite so that you can support Swedish entrepreneurship : )
